Hire Will
I am an extremely quick and voracious learner. I will not shy away from any new language, standard, or style. I am also a motivated task-oriented individual, and enjoy working in a team environment, especially pair coding. If provided the opportunity, I will use my tenacity and experience to become an excellent addition to your company.
Non-Technical Skills
I find that despite the electronic nature of the programming profession, those without non-programming skills find themselves left behind by the more well-written or charismatic of their brethren.
For myself, I believe my skillset outside of programming is what sets me apart from my competition. Of course, every programmer must have the ability to approach a problem from the coder’s point of view, but I have a great deal of experience in the “real world”, apart from raw code. This experience allows me to see problems from the client’s perspective, as a business analyst, and as an author of prose as well as code.
Web Development Skills
On to the real bread-and-butter. I have continually grown in my technical skills from lowly Jr Dev to the Senior Dev and lynchpin of a successful Development company. Below are my strongest skills, geared toward web development.
- Linux/BSD
- Vim 7
- PHP
- MVC Frameworks (Writing as well as using)
- Advanced OO PHP
- PEAR
- Mambo CMS Component Programming
- HTML
- CSS
- Standards-compliant code and web design
- Subversion
- Apache customization (mod_rewrite, etc)
- MySQL
- Adobe Photoshop
I of course have other less-related skills, including Adobe Illustrator, MS Office, Windows/Apple experience, etc., but I feel I have as much experience as the next Senior-position information worker.
